DTN announced removing of Equity/Index Options and NASDAQ Level II data from satellite systems. What options data was exactly removed? I suppose the quotes for options were removed because they generate so much data. What about the actual trades for options, are they removed too? What about the end-of-day data like closing price, volume, or outstanding interest for each option symbol?

We removed the entire options database, so there will be no trades, quotes, EOD or fundamental data for equity and index options.

So, is the $40 options feature listed on the above link non-existent, or are we talking about a different product? Does DTN offer a product whereby I can get the OPRA feed through satellite?

Thank you for pointing that out. The reference to level II and options has been removed from that page. We no longer carry Level II or Equity options on the satellite feed. We do offer it on our Internet products and via our NxCore broadcast/redistribution platform.

Just a suggestion--NxCore could use a hosted version, whereby applications could be installed remotely in a datacenter with an NxCore feed. That way, a full DS1/DS3 is not needed. Now that sounds like a killer app...

Or maybe I misunderstood. The page mentions that it can fit the full stream into a 56.6k modem bandwidth?

How much does this product cost if I were interested in equities and OPRA?

NxCore would require less than a T1 for the full equities and options feed. Depending upon its use (individual use vs redistribution) and the data received, it could be as little as $500/mo or as much as a couple thousand $$ per month.

A hosted service would definitely work well for this. :-)
