not sure what happened, didn't see a dupe process but closing it and retrying it worked. sorry for stupid question, i mainly wanted to make sure the guest account was the same. thanks for clarification.

i think maybe you're mixing up two requests, because history interval timeframe doesn't support max datapoints. // HIT,SYMBOL,INTERVAL,BEGINDATE BEGINTIME,ENDDATE ENDTIME,,BEGINFILTERTIME,ENDFILTERTIME,DIRECTION,REQUESTID,DATAPOINTSPERSEND,INTERVALTYPE<CR><LF> that's sort of the reason for my question because the requests that support maxdatapoints don't support start and end times, and vice verca. be nice to see this in a future version (supporting reference dates on 'maxdatapoint' allowing commands) at least for volume bars i could request 1min time bars using the dates and reconstruct the volume. but to reconstruct tick bars i'd have to get ticks, which is limiting as you point out. (i guess you're doing something similiar internally if they all have the same limit)

when using historical lookup, how would I best acheive the following? if I have a strategy that uses say 10k tick (or volume) bars, and it needs 50 of these bars to bootstrap itself.... how would I request this number of bars relative to an arbitrary date (eg if I'm booting in a simulation that runs from last year). the only way i can think is to request 50 bars back from today, and look at the date of the oldest bar and start counting all older bars (and requesting more) until I get 50. this is really inefficient though. i could leave it up to the user, but that's error prone. is there a better way w/iqfeed?

yes it was a buffering problem, when a bar packet was split between two async packet buffers on windows and the request id happened to not be in the buffer. was able to troubleshoot it quickly comparing the output from my software above to your tester tools. working now. thanks again

yes it does seem to be random in terms of when and what bars are missed. however this combined with the duplicate bar and your confirmation that your servers return this data probably means our buffer is occasionally being missed or read twice. thanks for your help and analysis

I am able to request historical lookup data just fine. However, when using HIX and HDX history lookups to request specific bars back.... I frequently get slightly more or slightly fewer bars than I request. I receive no errors back from iqfeed and I'm only requesting 100 days back of daily and 20 bars back of 5min and 2hr which should be available.... so I'm wondering what causes this? ok but I understand the intention of the protocol is to allow backwards compatibility.... backwards compatbility for 4.9 won't work if you can't say your app is designed for 4.9. unless backwards compat only works for 5 and beyond, if that's true please lmk.

Steve thanks the delimiter issue was it, i knew it had to be something stupid. However perhaps I found a bug, cause immediately after fixing this I got the following error setting the protocol on the history port : hist recv: 32 bytes E,4.9 is not a valid protocol i got this in response to the following after connect : S,SET PROTOCOL,4.9\r\n which is correct according to S,SET PROTOCOL,[VERSION]<CR><LF> ( http://www.iqfeed.net/dev/api/docs/HistoricalviaTCPIP.cfm ) If I remove the set protocol command (or change it to 5.0) I start getting history bars again. regarding changes.... I was actually just updating the product code, and adding more debugging and cleaning up some errors. However like I said even when I reverted these changes back to the many year old code that was working up until ~2pm yesterday... still don't get interval history. Another idea I tried was your 4.x->5.x idea, so I tried forcing the protocol to 4.9 and it had no effect. it's super odd because aside from some errors it was working fine yesterday. I've poured over the documentation and examples (your c# examples have errors in them btw), as far as I can tell I'm doing everything right.

I get history data in the history tab of the iqdiagnostics app, but iqdiagnostics history appears to be tick history, not the interval intraday/daily data I'm having issues with. I'm suddenly unable to receive history data via the socket interface. I can still receive level1 data w/no issue. This code has been used for 3+ years to receive both l1 and history data, so I'm a bit perplexed. I can request history data with no issues, I just never receive a response. In the past with bad history requests I would receive an E,'error' message... in this case that does not happen. I've tried reverting the code and still no luck... I get level1 but no history. Any suggestions for common culprit, other things to look at? This seems like I'm missing something pretty simple. |
