The last few weeks I have been monitoring several regular disconnects from IQF.

- All disconnects happenend excactly at the same TimeSpan between 8, 0, 0 and 8, 0, 59 CET
- My ISP connection was stable all the while
- Got disconnected today at 08:00:20.730
- Disconnect on 4/13/21 08:00:55.755

The data I received before the disconnect was "S,SERVER DISCONNECTED"

It is kind of annoying since it happens right after the start of most european market futures.

Any ideas?

There are unknowns in the equation that I am unable to answer.

(1) Perform a traceroute to the IQ Feed Server you are connected to at the time this happens. You can locate that in the IQ Feed Connection Manger that is located in your system tray by your clock in the lower right of Windows.

(2) You can run an IQ Logfile during these timeframes and we can have it reviewed to see how the client responds at the time of the disconnect.

These are a couple basics steps; for additional support I would contact us at support@iqfeed.net so we can gather additional information to assist you.

Another disconnect. Here is an extract of the IQ Logfile during that time. For what ever reason I didn't get Level 1 updates for 6s. I received heartbeats every second and was connected to quote server 66.112.148.226

STATUS Connectivity 508 0 2021-04-22 08:01:02 No data from Level 1 server in 6s. Reconnecting
STATUS Connectivity 508 0 2021-04-22 08:01:02 Close called, socket closed. 0
STATUS Connectivity 508 0 2021-04-22 08:01:02 Starting Feed (0:0)
STATUS Connectivity 508 0 2021-04-22 08:01:02 Initiating a login of type (2).
STATUS Connectivity 416 0 2021-04-22 08:01:02 Connecting To Login Server - 66.112.148.211:60000
STATUS Connectivity 416 0 2021-04-22 08:01:02 Connecting to server (66.112.148.211) on port 60000.

Seems like it always happens between 08:00 am and 08:01 am CET, one to two times a week. My internet connection was stable, also did a traceroute.

The messages from the logfile show that a reconnection has happened as a result of no data arriving at your machine from the primary quote server connection for 6 seconds and reconnecting which is IQ Connects intended operation for this scenario.

IQFeed’s servers send a timestamp/keepalive message to the client every second (even if the 3rd party app doesn’t want them and tells IQFeed not to send them, the servers still send them to the machine) so if 5 are missed in a row, we reconnect. We do this to detect bad connections to our servers quicker than waiting for windows to tell us the connection is bad which can take 45-90s and sometimes due to the way TCP works, never triggers.

The question is why aren't the timestamps arriving like they should(during those times when you are experiencing a disconnect.)

Unfortunately the IQ Connect Logfile cannot provide that answer.

Since this appears to be a consistent behavior; the speculation is that some router that your internet traffic is passing through kills the connection occasionally due to policies governing that hardware. This would be similar to back in the dialup days for Internet Service Providers used to kick off once every "X Hours"

The likely behavior is happening on the internet somewhere between our servers and your endpoint or PC.

If you would like to contact us at support@iqfeed.net we can provide some troubleshooting ideas that may help locate the problem.

You can utilize WIN MTR or a traceroute using windows CMD line to locate servers that may be causing a problem. You can contact your ISP and see if they can help resolve this issue.

To locate the IP of the server you are currently connecting to you can open the IQ Feed Connection Manager in the lower right of your Windows(System Tray); depending on your windows setup it may be under ^ - SHOW HIDDEN ICONS. Once you locate the IQ Connection Manager double left click on it to get the Connection Manager window.

You will now have a display that has our server IP listed at the top

Stephen, thanks for your help on this, specially on your assumption that it could be a routing issue. I was able to locate a time based rule in my firewall, which was the cause of the disconnect.

Still not sure why this can cause the error, at least I found the culprit

I know these issues can be especially difficult to troubleshoot and involve hours of investigation.

I am glad you made it to the other side with a positive outcome.

Have a wonderful rest of your day.
