I am in the planning stages of a small application. I haven't noticed any discussions or info in regards to contrasting & comparing COM and SOCKET for receiving level 2 data from IQFeed servers.

In what instances is one preferred over the other?

I will be reading level 2 data from multiple symbols, using VB. Naturally, speed and stability are very important.
