Effective April 17, 2005, DTN will be updating its symbology and storage structure for its Calculated Indexes and Statistics symbols which are carried on the DTN Satellite system. This courtesy notice is being sent to allow you to make the necessary changes that may be required if you are using 3rd party software with your DTN feed, or if you have these symbols programmed into a programmable quote page on a D7000 Satellite receiver.

Over the weekend of April 17th, we will be moving the symbols that are currently located in the Statistics database into the DTN Calc database. The Statistics database will then be removed.

We will also be standardizing on the [symbol.Z] format for all of the symbols in the new DTN Calc database. The resulting symbology will be more intuitive to our users, and now matches the symbology used on DTN’s Internet services.

In addition to the above changes, some data that was previously provided as multiple fields in a single symbol will now be split into multiple symbols. This will allow DTN to provide daily range information (Open, High, Low, Close) as well as historical charting for these symbols. It will also allow more 3rd party software the ability to chart the data since the values will now be provided in the “Last Trade” fields.

Please use the link below to download a word document with the complete symbol changes:

This change has been postponed until June 5th to allow satellite developers more time to accomodate the change.
