Hello all We have huge problems with derivatives downloads, and we do not think it is in our source since this can be recreated with IQ testprograms..
Description: Description: 1.We have our login 2.We open any of the C++ examples: Level1 COM, Level1 Socket, IQWatchQuote 3.We enter option symbol (IBM_RQ, IBM_QQ) 4.We push "Watch" button WE DOESN'T GET ANY DATA The IQ Connection Manager doesn't change symbols count 5.We push"Watch" button next time WE GET DATA The IQ Connection Manager increases symbols count 6.It's right for options.
So, is this a IQfeed bug? How to workaround this ?Any advice is greatly appreciated
Best regards Lars

I was able to duplicate this internally this morning. I will look into why this is happening.

Ahh... that is good, meaning we have done right, and this is in your court We can make a work-around by adding an implied delay of 7 seconds in our source, but this makes the feed appear slow and our program as well, and this - I guess - is in nobodys interest. Thanks for the quick test / verification Lars :-)

Hello Steve Were you able to verify that this was an error in your streamers? If so - is this something that you can make a quick fix for?

Here is what I've dug up.
Spaces and underscores in option symbols should be interchangeable.
So:
IBM_QQ should be the same as IBM QQ and likewise, IBM_RQ = IBM RQ
Currently, in IQFeed they are being handled separately (bug) and this is adversly affecting symbols with underscores.
From my testing, spaces are working as intended.
I will look into fixing the issue with symbols that have underscores.

Hello Steve. Thanks for a prompt response. But this triggers a few thoughts with our developers..
A. Do we wait while you fix, or should we use space seperator instead of underscore? B. If we make a quick and dirty fix, are we then guaranteed that underscores not occur in other contracts like spots and futures.
Cheers, Lars

The fix should be either in our upcomming release, or the one following.
Currently the only symbols with underscores are options.
-Edited to add- The preferred method for using these symbols is with a space as opposed to an underscore. The actual symbols from the exchage use spaces. Edited by DTN_Steve_S on May 17, 2006 at 09:19 AM

Upon further investigation, it appears that symbols with underscores have never worked properly.
The fact that they partially work at all is a server bug and in the future they will not work at all (as I mentioned above, the prefered method is to use spaces).
We are aware that the symbol lookup returns options with underscores rather than spaces. This is also a server issue that we will look into getting changed as soon as possible.
