Looking at the web pages it seems that the versions are different between the DTN.IQ product (1300 symbols) and the IQFeed product (500 symbol) - DTN.IQ is v2.4 and IQFeed is v2.3.
If I have subscribed to DTN.IQ and want the API, does this mean I must use the API supplied with the (500 symbol) IQFeed product because the only mention of API is for IQFeed (500 symbol) product?

There is only 1 API, IQFeed. A DTN.IQ subscription allows more symbols. If you subscribe to DTN.IQ, you can install the IQFeed client and have access to more symbols. Essentially, an IQFeed and DTN.IQ data subscription are just different service levels.
