ProphetX Support » Volume Moving Average (VMA) Jan 9, 2008 04:17 PM (Total replies: 1)

Hi, I'm interested in using a Volume Moving Average (VMA), or the equivalent indicator in ProphetX, on my one-minute chart. Currently I'm only using SMA's with minimal success. I found a definition of VMA:

Refers to the average volume of a security, commodity or index constructed in a period as short as a few minutes or as long as several years and shows trends for the latest interval. As each new variable is included in calculating the average, the last variable of the series is deleted.

I don't see VMA or anything comparable listed when I right click my chart and select, "Add Study". Does ProphetX have something like this? The closest thing I could find was to "Add Study", select Volume, go to properties and select "Line" under the Indicator box.

Thanks!

ProphetX Support » ADX valuable for 1 minute chart on ProphetX? Oct 31, 2007 06:35 PM (Total replies: 2)

Marge, this is excellent. Thank you! Wasn't sure what the "14" stood for...now I'm confident the default value of 14 represents minutes in this case, reflecting my chart setting as well as the MA's I'm using.

best,
-mike

ProphetX Support » ADX valuable for 1 minute chart on ProphetX? Oct 31, 2007 02:32 PM (Total replies: 2)

Hi, I currently use five different MA's that represent different minute averages but wondering if ADX would be another useful tool. Default Period/Value for the ADX line under Properties is set at 14. Is this applicable to someone using a 1 minute chart, though? Not sure if "14" is relevant for all charts or if another Period/Value would be better suited for 1 minute charts. Thanks for any expertise you can lend!
